VANTIS MONITOR FOR Z

Vantis Monitor for Z (VM4Z) is a product designed to revolutionize the monitoring and optimization of the z/OS mainframe environment. It offers real-time performance monitoring, integrated with modern visualization tools and unparalleled customization capabilities. Take a look at the main features, benefits and potential applications of Vantis Monitor for Z, to meet the dynamic needs of mainframe management in contemporary IT scenarios.
Main features
1. Real-time data collection
Vantis Monitor for Z agents operate in real time, making information available for viewing and automated actions in almost zero seconds, collecting performance data from any SMF (System Management Facility) log.
It generates customized logs, based on the data being collected in z/OS.
Vantis offers SAMPLES, where it produces logs consolidated by logical-processor-type for SMF logs 30 and 70. Based on these samples, the customer can customize any type of record.
2. Efficient Data Management
- Integration as a Subsystem: Installed as a subsystem within z/OS, Vantis Monitor for Z allocates DATASPACES that are used as BUFFERS, maximizing performance without impacting common memory areas (CSA/ECSA).
- Custom Agents: Avoid wasting CPU on decompressing or analyzing unnecessary data.
- Dynamic Configuration: Through the WEBADMIN interface, users can configure fields dynamically, allowing immediate updates without interruptions to the service.
3. Visualization and Integration
- Full compatibility with tools such as AZURE MONITOR, GRAFANA, ZABBIX, PROMETHEUS and other visualization software.
- Native integration with AZURE MONITOR for centralized data processing and alert management.
- Configurations are stored in a relational database in a distributed or cloud environment.
- By DEFAULT the database is Azure SQL, but any other can be used by configuring a plugin. Example: ORACLE, IBM-DB2-LUW, IBM-DB2Z, etc…
- The data is formatted and published in a monitoring environment. By DEFAULT, this environment is AZURE MONITOR, but others can be configured, such as INFLUX-DB, ZABBIX, SCOM, etc…
4. Custom rules and summaries
Users can configure the data to be collected at a detailed level using the WEBADMIN platform for data fields, adapting the analyses to the specific needs of the organization.
It is also possible to create new rules to summarize, consolidate or add data at collection time, without consuming MIPS/MSU in z/OS.
5. Alerts and Proactive Actions
Alert mechanisms trigger notifications for performance anomalies, enabling proactive problem resolution. Alerts can be forwarded to ticketing systems such as IBM Máximo or sent via SMS and PUSH notifications to mobile devices.
Proactive System Monitoring
Organizations can monitor their z/OS environments in real time, ensuring stability and performance.
Performance Analysis
With customizable dashboards, users get actionable INSIGHTS on system performance metrics, enabling data-driven decision-making.
Operational Rationalization
Vantis Monitor for Z guarantees minimal impact on system resources, supporting high availability environments.
BENEFITS
Performance optimization
- Greater z/OS efficiency: Reduces operational overhead by filtering and processing only essential data, with only the filter running on z/OS, all other data running in the distributed or CLOUD environment.
- Application acceleration: It greatly facilitates the identification of bottlenecks indicating the opportunity for adjustments aimed at reducing execution times for critical workloads.
Cost reduction
- Lower CPU usage: By minimizing data handling in the z/OS environment.
- Lower Operating Costs: Through the optimized use of resources.
System reliability
- Greater Availability: Identifies and resolves potential bottlenecks early.
- Peak Load Management: Alerts for workload peaks enable immediate corrective action.
User Empowerment
- Customizable Insights: Customize dashboards and reports to meet the organization’s objectives.
- Easy configuration: WEBADMIN’s intuitive interface simplifies system configuration and management.
